The YMCA NL is working with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay to bring a modern, accessible YMCA to the Upper Lake Melville region. The new centre will be owned by the Town and operated by the YMCA. The facility will offer 35-40 full-time and part-time positions and it will include a health and wellness area, an indoor walking track, a child care centre with up to 60 spaces, and a competition-sized swimming pool.

The provincial and federal governments have already shown considerable support for this initiative, and our team of business and community leaders is working hard to raise the remaining $5 million in philanthropic funds through the Strengthening  Our Communities Campaign. The new YMCA will include:

  • Accessible 25 m, 6 lanes main pool
  • Play pool
  • 3 change rooms
  • Conditioning centre with cardio, strength, and free weight equipment
  • Indoor walking/running track
  • Childminding room
  • Multi-purpose gymnasium
  • A licensed child care centre
  • Space for gymnastics
  • Beautiful grounds
