Happy Valley – Goose Bay, NL – The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay has released the 2014 audited financial statements, adopted at the January 25th, 2016 public Town Council meeting.

Completed by Grant Thornton LLP, the statements provide the municipality’s financial state for the year ending December 31, 2014. The document can be viewed here: 2014 Audited Financial Statements

Highlights include:
• Financial statements that illustrate the fiscal stability of the town;
• Continued, long-term low debt to equity ratio
• Reduction of $85,031 in outstanding arrears
• $1.9 million investment in infrastructure

“The town remains committed to being fiscally responsible while revitalising and investing in capital infrastructure for the benefit of the community,” said Mayor Jamie Snook. “Upcoming initiatives include: building infrastructure, Labrador Wellness Centre Phase One engineering costs, completion of a Fire Hall Study and Extension as well as upgrades to the Broomfield Memorial Arena and the Water Treatment Plant.”

In the coming months, the town will be reviewing the 2016 Municipal Budget which was passed on November 30, 2015. Any adjustments to the budget will be publically announced.

As per the Municipalities Act, the town’s audited financial statements will also be advertised in The Labradorian.
