2021 Municipal Budget – Pre-Budget Consultation for General Public

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is inviting residents to share their input, ideas, and concerns on priorities for the 2021 Municipal Budget. The Town will hold a Pre-Budget Consultation on Monday, October 5, 2020, at 6:30 PM in Council Chambers, where residents can address the Council for consideration.

 

Residents who wish to present during the Pre-Budget Consultation must register as a delegate with the Town by no later than Noon Thursday, October 1, 2020. Delegates will be given 15 minutes for their presentation.

 

If there are no delegates registered by the deadline, then the October 5, 2020 meeting will not proceed. A maximum of two individuals can represent a group or organization in the Chambers for the Consultation.

 

Registered Delegates will be advised of a specific time to come to Town Hall (5 minutes prior to presentation time given). All delegates will be required to wear a mask as per public health guidelines.

 

The gallery will not be open to the public, and only those delegates registered to present (maximum 2 persons) will be permitted in the gallery.

 

Though unfortunate, these unprecedented measures are necessary to be proactive against the potential spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay extends thanks to the public for their understanding at this time of uncertainty.

 

In Consultation with officials at Labrador Grenfell Health and guidance released by the office of the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health, the 12th Council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Management, and Staff will continue to monitor updates relating to the pandemic and update residents regularly.

 

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay strongly recommends that residents and businesses continue to utilize a cautious approach and exercise recommended practices to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.

For those that prefer not to present to Council at the October 5, 2020 Consultations, individuals and organizations are invited to submit their ideas and concerns in writing.

 

The deadline for receipt of submissions is Friday, October 9, 2020, at 4:00 PM.

The Town will be undergoing budget preparations in the coming months to pass the 2021 Municipal Budget by the end of November 2020.
