AS PER THE URBAN AND RURAL PLANNING ACT
TOWN OF HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY

INTRODUCTION
The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for qualified persons or firms to apply as Public Hearing Commissioner as necessary to facilitate a public hearing subject to the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000. The deadline for submissions is 4:00 PM. Monday, August 17, 2020.
The role of a Commissioner is to make recommendations to the Town Council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay based on public information and concerns presented at a public hearing required for the updated Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Municipal Plan and Development Regulations under the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000.
Background:
The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay retained Tract Consulting Inc. to update the Municipal Plan and Development Regulations, 2009. The updated Happy Valley-Goose Bay Municipal Plan and Development Regulations were developed in accordance with the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000. The new Municipal Plan provides guiding planning policies for the Town and the associated Development Regulations implements those policies. In an effort to engage citizens in the planning and decision- making process, and provide an opportunity for individuals to present concerns to an objective Commissioner, public hearings are required under the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000.
