On-Street Parking Ban – Snow Clearing Regulations

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is asking for the assistance and cooperation of residents as we enter the winter season to ensure the general public’s safety.

The Municipal Enforcement Department is reminding residents and businesses of the Town’s Municipal Snow Clearing Regulations, in particular, sections 16, 17 & 18, which states:

SNOW CLEARING SECTION

  1. During the period from the first day of November in each year to the thirtieth day of April in any succeeding year, both days inclusive, no person shall park an unattended

vehicle upon any street within the Town between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 8:00 a.m.

  1. At any time during a snow storm and for twelve (12) hours thereafter, no person shall park an unattended vehicle on any street within the Town.

(a) No person shall deposit, throw, sweep or place any accumulation of snow or ice on any street, sidewalk or public parking lot within the limits of the Town, providing

that this regulation shall not apply to employees or contractors of council while engaged in snow clearing operations.

  1. Any unattended vehicle parked on any street within the Town in contravention of these regulations may be removed and impounded by the Council and the cost of such removal and impounding may be recovered from the owner as a civil debt prior to the vehicle being returned to the owner. This may be paid at the Town Office during regular business hours. Fees are recovery of towing costs and charges for storage until recovered.

Individuals who violate municipal regulations are subject to being fined.
