The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is reaching out to the community to raise awareness on the dangers of snowmobile operators skipping water.
In recent days this has become a hazardous activity in the community, most notably in the area in front of Kinsmen Park.
The Town’s Community Constable will be increasing patrols of areas where snowmobilers are known to skip water. This is a dangerous activity for snowmobile operators as well as a significant noise disturbance for residents in the community.
Snowmobile operators who are found skipping water could be fined under the municipal Snow Vehicle Regulations for creating a nuisance or disturbance to residents, as well as operating in a hazardous manner.
We are asking snowmobile operators to please use their snow vehicles responsibly.
Members of the public who witness this dangerous activity are asked to notify the Town’s Community Constable at 896-7121 or the RCMP Goose Bay Detachment as a non-emergency, at 896-3383.
