The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay continues to support Birch Island Project
For Immediate Release
December 10, 2018

Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL – On Monday, December 10, 2018, the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Town Council was pleased to again provide Healthy Waters Labrador with a financial contribution of $30,000 to further support the Birch Island Project.

A commitment of Budget 2018, the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay committed $60,000.00 towards the Birch Island Restoration Project. In June 2018 the Town presented the initial portion of that commitment with the final contribution presented today by members of Council to Marina Biasutti Brown and Jim Purdy, Board Members of Healthy Waters Labrador.

Healthy Waters Labrador has worked tirelessly throughout the past three-plus years to restore and transform the Birch Island area into a wetland conservation and education area, protecting the wetland ecosystem and showcasing its beauty to residents and visitors. Upon completion, Birch Island will offer 5-kilometers of the boardwalk, scenic trails, an amphitheater, viewing deck, and much more. The Town Council is thrilled to once again support this important project and look forward to continued success.
