Digging Permit Application

Acquiring a permit to dig is required prior to:

  • Digging
  • Construction
  • Adding connections to Town services

Please complete the Digging Permit Application form. There is no application fee for a digging permit.

Fees or charges may apply should the permit affect or require a connection to the Town’s water and sewer system.

Building Occupancy/Change of Use/Business Application Form

A permit is required under three circumstances:

  • A change of the use of the building or the property
  • A building permit has been issued by the Town and construction is completed; and
  • To register a new business

ALL BUSINESSES MUST BE REGISTERED TO OPERATE WITHIN THE TOWN OF HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY

Building/Development Application Form

A building permit is required for:

  • All new construction;
  • Extensions, additions, repairs, relocation, and demolition of existing buildings; and
  • Construction, relocation, and repair of a fence

Certain minor repairs for maintenance and improvement do not require a building permit.

Applicants are reminded that any Building Permit they acquire from the Town should be prominently displayed on site.

Subdivision Application

The Town’s Development Regulations 2008-2018 outline the requirements for subdivisions. The Town reviews any subdivision proposal to ensure compliance with the relevant parts of the Development Regulations including, but not limited to: the land use zone, lot size and dimensions, and subdivision regulations.

Application to Drive or Operate a Taxi

The Town has a licensing procedure under the “Taxi Regulations of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay”.

Any persons wishing to become a taxi driver are required to complete the Taxi Driver Licence Application

For the operation of taxi vehicles, the Taxi Operator Licence Application form must be completed, as well.

Street Naming Requests

As per Town policy #PW0028, requests to add names to the Street List shall be made in writing with supporting information including the historical and community significance of the name.

Street name requests must be considered and approved by Council, before being added to the official list. Street names will be used in the order they are approved by Council, however, Council may make exceptions to this order on a case by case basis.
