The flags outside the Town Hall have been lowered to half-mast to honour the life and memory of the late, Mr. Horace Goudie. We are deeply saddened by Horace’s passing as a beloved member of our community.

His passing reminds us of our history in central Labrador, as Horace was a trapper for 70 years and the last of the “Height-of-Landers” – a group of trappers who canoed from the Upper Lake Melville area upstream past Churchill Falls every year.

Horace will be remembered by so many in Upper Lake Melville who knew him for his generous spirit and genuine love of the land. He will be greatly missed in our community.

We send our deepest condolences and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
