UPDATE- MAY 19, 3:20PM

Town Council has met with MP Yvonne Jones and MHA Perry Trimper regarding the evacuation of the community of Mud Lake and residents along Mud Lake Road.

It is the Town’s understanding that Minister Joyce will be visiting the area in the upcoming days. His department will be doing a full assessment which will determine the next steps in the disaster relief process.

The Town encourages residents to contact their own private insurance provider as required.

Update: Water Level Monitoring

Information for the Public

May 19, 2017

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay would like to inform the public water level monitoring has recorded that water levels have receded over the last 24 hours. Staff will continue to monitor levels throughout the community.

Professionals have begun to assess various sites for damages. Once assessments are complete, the process of conducting necessary repairs will begin.

Please avoid accessing the river bank as it is uncertain if any damage has been done.

The Town would like to thank residents for their cooperation during this time. The public will be notified of any significant changes.
