Happy Valley-Goose Bay Town Councillor Joe Tremblett, Chair of Enforcement & Emergency Services Committee and Members of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Municipal Enforcement and HVGB RCMP along with Ground Search & Rescue and Labrador Grenfell Health Ambulance Services conducted a “special” kind of checkpoint on Saturday, December 21st, 2019.

“Candy Cane Checkpoint’ was set up on Hamilton River Road in the area between Town Hall and Kinsmen Park as a way for emergency services to say “Happy Holidays” to the community and remind them to drive safe, wear seatbelts and to please not drink and drive over the festive season or anytime for that matter. Motorists were given a treat bag and a candy cane which were graciously donated by the Terrington Consumers COOP and Skipper Joe’s Convenience.

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay would like to thank all participants for their involvement in the first “Candy Cane Checkpoint” and wishes all a very safe and happy holiday season.
