2020 Santa “Static” Parade Canceled

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Department of Community Services & Recreation regrets to inform residents that the 2020 Santa Static Parade scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2020, has been canceled.
This decision, though unfortunate, is in the interest of Public Health and Safety. Registration for 2020 Floats is down significantly from past years, and it is the view of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay that this is due to concerns over the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In consultation with officials at Labrador Grenfell Health and guidance released by the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health’s office, the 12th Council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Management, and Staff will continue to monitor updates relating to the Pandemic and update residents regularly.
The Town is committed to helping make the 2020 Holiday Season as bright as possible and remind residents of the upcoming Christmas events:
- Virtual Tree Lighting Ceremony via Facebook & YouTube December 3
- The “My Favourite Christmas Story” Contest, deadline December 16
- The “Kids Christmas Art” Contest, deadline December 16
- The 2020 Winterlights decorating contest, winners to be announced December 17
