Help make Happy Valley-Goose Bay Canada’s Most Active Community!
The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is running from June 1-30, and Happy Valley-Goose Bay is registered to compete for the title of Canada’s Most Active Community. Read about the challenge, the prizes, and how to register below:
The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is a national physical activity initiative that encourages Canadians to get active in search of Canada’s Most Active Community. It is open to everyone and all minutes tracked on the app and website from June 1-30 count toward a community’s total score.
After June 30, 50 finalist communities will be invited to submit an application explaining why they deserve to be Canada’s Most Active Community. At the conclusion of the challenge, one community will earn the top prize of $100,000 and title of being Canada’s most active. In addition to the national winner, there will also be prizing for the most active community in each province and territory.
Register yourself, your workplace, school, and family by June 1st to easily track your activity through the app/website or by simply syncing your fitness tracker. All activity within the postal codes A0P 1C0 and A0P 1E0 will count towards the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay on the national stage.
Why not make a challenge of it with your co-workers and friends? The Town will be sharing various local events throughout the month of June that can count towards your active minutes. There is no shortage of activities that count, so whether you are:
- in your garden,
- visiting the Birch Island Boardwalk,
- at your neighborhood playground or
- playing in Kinsmen park,
- walking your Dog at the Lake Melville Dog Park
- completing 9 holes at the Amaruk Golf Club
- taking part in the Town’s Community Cleanup on June 2, 2021
- taking part in the Town’s Community Physically Active Day on June 4, 2021
- take part in the Community Better Challenge Bike Rides each Sunday in June hosted by Bike Labrador
- out for a stroll on the many walking trails
