Public Service Announcement
Splash Pad Open For The Summer Season
Information for the Public
Release Date: June 4, 2021

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is advising residents that the Kinsmen Park Splash Pad is now open for the season.

Hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily (subject to change).

In the interest of Public Safety, residents are reminded that the Splash Pad area is an unsupervised area, and small children should not be left unattended. There is also applicable signage near the Splash Pad, which indicates recommendations that will help ensure the safety of all users.

Our first objective is to ensure that the Town is following all recommended public health guidelines to reduce the risk of Covid-19. Therefore, we ask that parents & guardians monitor their children’s activity at the Kinsmen Park playground & Splash Pad facilities.

Staff will be as proactive as possible with the disinfection of playground equipment, and we ask all users to practice Physical Distancing as much as possible and to wash hands frequently or use hand sanitizer as often as possible. If determined that Physical Distancing Guidelines are not followed at any of the facilities mentioned above, then the facility will be CLOSED down for public access.

These unprecedented measures, though unfortunate, are necessary to be proactive against the potential spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay extends thanks to the public for their understanding at this time. Council and Staff appreciate your understanding during this time of uncertainty. We look forward to re-opening the Kinsmen Park Splash Pad facility to our community’s youth.

In consultation with officials at Labrador Grenfell Health and guidance released by the office of the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health, the 12th Council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Management, and Staff will continue to monitor updates relating to the pandemic and update residents regularly.

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay strongly recommends that residents and businesses continue to utilize a cautious approach and exercise recommended practices to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.
