Information for the Public
Release Date: November 9, 2021

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Department of Community Services & Recreation is pleased to announce the Annual Santa Claus Parade will not only return in its traditional format for 2021, but it also returns with a new additional format!

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Santa Parade will take place on Sunday, December 5, 2021; there will be two portions to the 2021 Parade:

On Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, there will be a static Santa Claus Parade. Located in the EJ Broomfield Memorial Arena Parking Lot, the Static Santa Claus Parade will offer a sensory-friendly option for those with autism spectrum disorder and other sensitivities to sound and lights an opportunity to enjoy the festive spirit of the Santa Claus Parade. This will be a new aspect for the Santa Claus Parade and one we can build on for future years to ensure the Town is as inclusive as possible.

At 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 5, 2021, the parade with lights and sirens will begin on Green Street and travel down Hamilton River Road, ending at the College of the North Atlantic Campus.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Santa will not hand out treats to children inside the College of the North Atlantic. However, the Town is working with Santa on a possible outdoor option to follow the parade at Kinsmen Park; stay tuned for further details.

The Town would like to congratulate Peacock Primary School, particularly Mlle Brianna Mullins’ French Immersion Kindergarten Class as the winner of the annual Santa Parade Theme Contest and recipients of the prize for coming up with the theme of the 2021 Santa Claus Parade “Christmas Movies.”

The Town would like to thank all students, schools, and classes for participating in this annual theme contest, making it another successful year.
