PUBLIC ADVISORY

Labrador-Grenfell Health implementing contact tracing and COVID-19 testing following possible exposure

Labrador-Grenfell Health is advising the public that it is working to contact travelers on the following flights, after an identified possible COVID-19 exposure:

  • Air Borealis, Flight # PB961, December 20, 2021 (all stops)
  • Air Borealis, Flight # PB962, December 20, 2021 (all stops)
  • Air Borealis, Flight # PB961, December 21, 2021 (all stops)
  • Air Borealis, Flight # PB962, December 21, 2021 (all stops)

The health authority is working with leadership and officials from the Nunatsiavut Department of Health and Social Development and Mushuau Innu First Nation on these efforts.

Public Health is asking that individuals who were on any of these flights to isolate immediately and arrange testing by calling 8-1-1 or completing an online assessment. Individuals who have already been contacted directly by Public Health do not need to call 8-1-1 or complete an assessment.

Labrador-Grenfell Health is coordinating COVID-19 testing for all individuals who have been identified as contacts, including passengers on the above flights. In anticipation of a large number a drive-thru testing clinic will be established in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for those contacts.

We are asking the public to please not attend the drive-thru clinic at this time to ensure all contacts receive testing as quickly as possible to prevent the possible spread of illness.

Labrador-Grenfell Health is also reminding the public that anyone experiencing one or more symptoms of COVID-19 is asked to complete the online self-assessment or call 8-1-1 to arrange testing.

Everyone has an important role to play in preventing the spread of COVID-19. The public is reminded that the best defense against COVID-19 is maintaining physical distancing, practicing hand hygiene, staying home and seeking a test when sick, and consistently wearing a mask.

More information about COVID-19 can be found on the province of Newfoundland and Labrador’s website www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19 and on the Labrador-Grenfell Health webpage www.lghealth.ca/covid-19.

Labrador-Grenfell Health would like to thank the public for their co-operation during this time.
