Emergency Water Shut-off – Emergency Water Line Repairs Ongoing

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay advises residents that repairs to the water distribution line were attempted today, Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 9:00 AM. Crews had hoped to complete the repairs today, however, residents in the area are advised that the repairs will continue Thursday, April 28, 2022. Water pressure will be restored for the remainder of the day today, but complete water loss is expected beginning at 9:00 AM, Thursday, April 28, 2022.

 

The area to be affected include:

 

Grenfell Street – From Civic Address #51 to #73

Grenfell Street – From Civic Address #48 to #70

 

This water shut-off is necessary to complete emergency repairs to the Water Distribution Line supplying the area mentioned above. As a result of this interruption, the Town will be issuing a Boil Water Advisory (once the work has been completed and water restored) for this area until further notice.

 

As there was no loss of water today, April 27, 2022, as originally planned, there will be no need for a Boil Water Advisory at this time.

 

Residents in the area mentioned above will experience a complete loss of water from 9:00 AM until approximately 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2022.

 

Due to the nature of the repairs required, Water & Sewer Crews will have to shut down a section of Grenfell Street from:

 

the intersection of Grenfell Street and Cabot Crescent

to

the intersection of Grenfell Street and Strathcona Street

 

Crews will have heavy equipment operating in the area, and all appropriate safety signage and flags persons will be on-site for the duration of the repairs. Motorists and Pedestrians are advised to proceed with caution in the area mentioned above.
