Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL – The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is confirming an incident that took place at the municipal landfill on Saturday, April 30.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., authorities were called to the municipal landfill where it was reported that a child was struck by heavy equipment operating in the area. The child was transported to the Labrador Grenfell Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay to undergo treatment. Our sincere thoughts remain with the child and family during this time.
The Town remains committed to safety in all facets of its operations to ensure the well-being of its employees and the community. We recognize and understand that this is a difficult time and in this regard, appropriate resources will be made available for those who require support.
The Town is cooperating fully with authorities on the investigation. No other details will be released at this time. The landfill will remain closed until further notice.
