Happy Valley – Goose Bay, NL – Labour negotiations between the municipality and CUPE Local 2019 have concluded. The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay ratified the new collective agreement during its public monthly meeting of Council on October 25th.

The new collective agreement represents a nine per cent increase to employees over three years, and is set to expire on December 31, 2018. This increase is comparable to recent collective agreements reached in other NL municipalities of the same size.

“We would like to thank CUPE Local 2019 for negotiating to reach a balanced agreement that is fair to our employees and enables us to provide quality services to the community,” said Mayor Jamie Snook. “We were diligent in offering a wage increase to employees that would not force us to increase the mil rate for residents. We recognize the value of our employees and would like to thank them for their continued service with the Town.”

We thank businesses and residents for their patience while the Town and CUPE Local 2019 worked to negotiate an agreement.

The new collective agreement will be available in the human resources section of the Town’s website, once it has been signed by all parties.
