In Happy Valley-Goose Bay there are a large number of sport and exercise groups that you can get involved in. These groups are for a wide variety of ages and in many sports there are men’s, women’s, and co-ed leagues. Learn more about these groups and how to get involved.

This feedback will go directly to the Director of Community Services and Recreation so the Department can deal with issues accordingly.

Goose Bay Curling Club
There are men’s, women’s and mixed league curling teams and regular bonspiel and funspiel events organized. Ice rentals are also available. The municipality owns this facility, but it is operated by the Goose Bay Curling Club.

Labrador Provincial Training Centre
This facility has a swimming pool offering swimming lessons and casual swimming. Bookings can be made for larger or smaller groups and for events such as birthday parties. Rates for rental vary with group size and age. It also offers judo, gym rental for basketball, volleyball, badminton; a judo room; an equipped gym.

Healthy Waters Labrador
The Town is working with Healthy Waters Labrador on their Birch Island Restoration and Trail project which will turn the area into a heritage site for everyone to enjoy. Birch Island was a former settlement located next to the community.
This three-year project will include an outdoor classroom teaching children about wetlands and the environment and an eight-kilometer wheelchair boardwalk trail system.
Strengthening Our Communities – The Labrador Wellness Centre
The Labrador Wellness Centre project now called the Central Labrador YMCA is envisioned to serve as a legacy for the development that central Labrador is experiencing. Happy Valley-Goose Bay prides itself on being a multi-cultural community, making it one of the province’s most diversified bright spots. This modern facility will unite and strengthen the holistic health of all communities throughout Labrador.
