EJ Broomfield Memorial Arena

The Department of Community Services & Recreation is advising residents that the EJ Broomfield Arena Winter Schedule will resume on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, with the below events schedule. Please note, there is no charge for the events listed below.

 

Casual Skate

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

 

Family Skate

Monday, Wednesday & Friday 

6:00 PM to 6:50 PM

 

Casual Skate

Monday, Wednesday & Friday

8:00 PM to 8:50 PM

 

Senior Casual Skate

Tuesday and Thursday

11:00 AM to 12:00 PM

 

Mom’s & Tots Skate

Tuesday and Thursday

2:30 PM to 3:30 PM

 

Family Skate

Saturday

2:00 PM to 2:50 PM

7:00 PM to 7:50 PM

Residents are also advised of the following guidelines in effect to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19:

  • Only the main entrance will be accessible to all, Player’s Entrance Not Accessible. Main Doors to the EJ Broomfield Memorial Arena will be open 15 minutes prior to the start of the above-mentioned events and will be locked 5 minutes after the start of the above-mentioned events.
  • Upon Entry a list must be signed in order to keep accurate track of numbers of people, hand sanitizer will also be available.
  • Everyone ages 12 and over must provide NLVAXPass upon entry
  • Under 12 Years must be accompanied by Parent/Guardian
  • Maximum of 25 Skaters permitted on ice surface per session on a “first come first serve” basis. Helmets are recommended while on the ice surface.
  • Masks must be worn at all times (sitting or standing) except while on the ice surface.
  • Chairs will be available for individuals to use to put on / remove skates, users are not to use the stands or dressing rooms.
  • Parents/Guardians only to use Yellow Section Seating (Maximum 20 people) to watch those on the ice (Parents/Guardians only). No other seating sections will be available for use.
  • No Hockey Sticks, Pucks, Broomball Sticks/Balls permitted
  • Canteen services will not be available
  • Please adhere to Physical Distancing guidelines by keeping a minimum of 6 feet (2 meters) between yourself and others. “Stay within your bubble and try not to burst others”.
  • Once the skating event is finished, we respectfully ask that you take off your skates, gather belongings, and exit the arena within 10 minutes. This will allow staff to clean and prep for the next event.
  • No charge at this time
  • No Ice Time Rentals available
  • Clyde’s Room is not available for bookings/rentals

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Department of Community Services & Recreation is pleased to welcome you back to your EJ Broomfield Memorial Arena.

Kinsmen Park  

Kinsmen Park’s opening hours will be Monday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (subject to change).

Access to Kinsmen Park will be from the parking lot only, and washroom facilities are not available at Kinsmen Park. Therefore, please practice physical distancing at all times when accessing the facility.

Residents will notice that a path has been created and holiday lighting will remain up and lit for the public’s enjoyment.

In consultation with officials at Labrador Grenfell Health and guidance released by the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health’s office, the 13th Council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Management, and Staff will continue to monitor updates relating to the pandemic and update residents regularly.
