The municipality has a state of the art Wastewater Treatment Facility that came into operation in 2013. The facility is equipped with three lagoons as well as modern scada communications and alarm systems to detect any issues. On average, the plant processes approximately 8,500 cubic metres of wastewater per day. Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at 91% efficiency.
All sewage from the town, including 5 Wing Goose Bay, is processed at the facility through the following methods: solid removal, fine particle/grit removal, aeration and settling, and ultra violet radiation. Effluent water discharges into a leaching field, which is absorbed into the ground.
