On November 15th, 2022 the 13th Town Council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay held a Special meeting to rescind Motion #2022-10-14 By-Election Timeline. When this Motion was passed in October there was one vacancy on Council. Since then, another seat has been vacated. In order to meet the new timelines which are legislated by Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs and to be cost efficient, the 13th Council decided to hold one By-Election to fill both seats. At the Special meeting on November 15th, Council voted unanimously to hold a By-Election on Monday, December 19, 2022. Polls will be located at The Town Office Boardroom.
The new date for Nomination Day is Monday, November 28, 2022 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Town Office.
If you are considering running for the above, please consider the below eligibility requirements:
· You are an eligible voter in the municipality in which you are nominated.
· You are not in arrears of taxes or other charges to the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
· You have lived in the municipality for at least 30 days before the commencement of the nomination period.
The Advance Poll will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
There will be one ballot for two (2) Councillors for voters to consider on election day:
