2022 Summer Recreation Program
Information for the Public
Release Date: May 25, 2022

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Department of Community Services & Recreation is aware that there is speculation in the community that the Town will not be offering a Summer Recreation Program for 2022. This is not the case.

While planning is still underway and potential changes to the 2022 Summer Recreation Program are possible, we wish to ensure residents that there will be a 2022 program, details of which we look forward to bringing to you in the very near future. In fact, ads for summer student positions have been advertised.

The 13th Council of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay was pleased to unanimously support the hiring of the new Director of Community Services & Recreation, Mr. Travis Ford who will be bringing his experience and expertise to the department beginning May 30, 2022, and the summer recreation program will be a top priority for him.

While the Town appreciates that residents are anxious to know details, it is important to remember that typically registration for the Summer Recreation program takes place around or on July 1.

The CSR Department also advises that it is working closely with the Central Labrador YMCA as it too will be offering summer programming for youth. The Town and CL YMCA wish to avoid duplication wherever possible so that maximum participation is achieved with age-appropriate programming provided.

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay appreciates the patience and understanding of the public on this important matter.
