Boil Water Advisory at 5 Wing Goose Bay And Area HAS BEEN LIFTED EFFECTIVE MONDAY, OCTOBER 30/23
October 21, 2023 – Happy Valley-Goose Bay – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces
5 Wing Goose Bay would like to advise the public that a Boil Water Advisory has taken effect immediately, Saturday October 21, 2023, due a water line break on the Base.
This advisory will be in place until two satisfactory water samples are obtained. Those living or working in the following areas:
- 5 Wing Goose Bay
- North Side Industrial Park
- Spruce Park
- MOT/Hamilton Heights
- And any other areas directly supplied by Spring Gulch water.
Should boil their water before drinking. Please follow these instructions.
Specific guidance during a boil water advisory:
Use Instructions
Drinking | Use boiled tap water |
Brushing teeth | Use boiled tap water |
Washing hands | Can continue to be washed using tap water and a proper handwashing technique that includes rubbing all parts of the hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds |
Ice cubes | Use boiled tap water |
Preparing food | Use boiled tap water |
Beverages | Use boiled tap water |
Washing fruits/vegetables | Use boiled tap water |
Laundry | May be washed in tap water, either by hand or by machine |
Showers or baths | Adults, adolescents, and older children may shower, bathe, or wash using tap water, but should avoid swallowing the water. Infants, toddlers and immunocompromised individuals should be sponge bathed in order to reduce the chance of them swallowing the water. |
Washing dishes | May be washed in tap water, either by hand or by machine |
Infant formula | Use boiled tap water |
Pets | Use boiled tap water |
