Extreme Weather Conditions Creating Flooding
Urgent Public Safety Message
Information for the Public
Release Date: April 3, 2021

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Public Works Department is informing the public that the freezing rain overnight and this morning combined with milder temperatures and rainfall will create flooding/pooling on some residential streets and Kelland Drive.

The Town is advising residents that Town Road Crews will continue to monitor the situation and will be out to deal with clearing any flooding of Municipal Roads on a priority basis.

Residents can also expect temperature increases combined with forecasted rainfall, resulting in increased water pooling and localized flooding, compounding issues with potholes. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution through any water pooling. Town crews will attempt to address these areas by pushing snow away from the roadside to create places where the water can drain municipal roads.

Residents are also advised that Line Crews with NL Hydro are out addressing ice buildup on power lines.

Pedestrians are advised to be cautious of falling ice from overhead powerlines and trees.

Town Crews are also advising that the gravel road condition to the Municipal Landfill and the gravel section of Corte Real Road are deteriorating, and motorists are advised to avoid these sections of gravel road as much as possible.

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and extends sincere wishes for a Safe and Happy Easter.
