Fire and Emergency Services
To protect our residents, fire and emergency services are being covered 24/7 by Town Management. If an emergency occurs, CUPE Union Local 2019 has indicated that if a firefighter member is on the picket line, he will respond and take the truck to the scene and management must retrieve the vehicle and return it to the fire hall once the emergency is over. The Union member will stay with the vehicle until the managers retrieves the vehicle. Prior to the vehicle returning to the firehall the union members and or volunteers will ensure that the truck is prepared to respond to the next emergency.
If there is no firefighter on the picket line, the Union member(s) will meet the vehicle at the emergency location. Management will ensure the truck is on scene. Upon completion of the response, and before the vehicle is returned to the fire hall, the Union member will ensure that the truck is prepared to respond to the next emergency. Management will return the truck to the fire hall.
