Information for the Public
Release Date: February 8, 2022

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is saddened to have learned of the passing of one of Happy Valley-Goose Bay’s most respected elders, Robert Lyall.

Robert Lyall, known to many as “Bob” was respected as a true champion for indigenous people. His legacy of caring and friendship will carry on by the services he himself helped instill in our community. The Labrador Friendship Centre is a testament to that legacy. The building which is home to the many valuable services to Labrador’s Indigenous peoples bears his name and is known as the Robert C. Lyall Building.

The 13th Council, Management, and Staff of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay offer sincere condolences to friends and family of Robert Lyall.

In honour of Bob’s devotion and dedication to the community and indeed Labrador, flags in front of Town Hall will fly at half-mast.
