Governor General of Canada to visit Happy Valley-Goose Bay

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay advises that Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will undertake an official visit to the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador on September 20 and 21, 2018. She will stop in St. John’s, Happy Valley-Goose Bay and North West River.
Below is Her Excellency’s detailed itinerary for Friday, September 21, 2018:
10:30 a.m.
Visit to 5 Wing Goose Bay
Upon arrival at 5 Wing Goose Bay, the Governor General will meet with the commander of the base, Lieutenant-Colonel Stéphane Racle, to receive an overview of the base’s activities. Later, Her Excellency will participate in a familiarization flight on board a CH-146 Griffon helicopter. At the end of the visit, she will meet with Canadian Armed Forces personnel.

Meeting with the Mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay
The Governor General will meet with His Worship Wally Andersen, Mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Community Walk Along the Birch Island Boardwalk
The Governor General will join the Mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, youth and volunteers on a walk along the new Birch Island Boardwalk, built in partnership with the city of Happy Valley-Goose Bay and a not-for-profit organization called Healthy Waters Labrador.
