Happy Valley Day 77th Anniversary

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is reminding residents that Saturday, September 26, 2020, marks the 77th Anniversary of the founding of Happy Valley. At 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2020, His Worship, Mayor Wilson (Wally) Andersen, and members of the 12th Council will sign an official Proclamation declaring September 26, 2020, as “Happy Valley Day.”

On September 26, 1943, John Broomfield, Gilbert Saunders, and Thorwald Perrault, along with their respective families, settled at what they initially called “Refugee Cove” and in 1955 the name was changed to Happy Valley.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns related to physical distancing Happy Valley Fest – Seniors Fun Day will not be taking place this year at Kinsmen Park.

The Town is pleased to offer the following trivia contest. Submit your answers to the below questions by 4:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2020, to pr@townhvgb.com or via the Town’s Facebook Messenger. Your name will be entered for a chance to win some great prizes. Prize Draws to take place immediately following the 10:00 AM, Proclamation Signing on Saturday, September 26, 2020. The Proclamation Signing and Prize Draw will be available to the public via Facebook Live starting at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2020.
