Happy Valley Day 78th Anniversary

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is reminding residents that today, Saturday, September 26, 2021, marks the 78th Anniversary of the founding of Happy Valley.
Today, members of the 12th Council along with Gillian Saunders marked this special point of our history by signing an official Proclamation declaring September 26, 2021, as “Happy Valley Day.”
On September 26, 1943, John Broomfield, Gilbert Saunders, and Thorwald Perrault, along with their respective families, settled at what they initially called “Refugee Cove” and in 1955 the name was changed to Happy Valley.
