Remembrance Day

November 11, 2019

Honour and Remember

The Remembrance Day Ceremony has played a major role in Remembrance since 1931. Every year, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we gather in memorial parks, community halls, workplaces, schools, and homes to stand in honour of all who have fallen. Together, we observe a moment of silence to mark the sacrifice of the many who have fallen in the service of their country and to acknowledge the courage of those who still serve.

The Act of Remembrance

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
We will remember them.

On Monday, November 11, 2019, hundreds will gather in the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay to honour the many men and women who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice for the very freedoms we as a society enjoy today.

His Worship, Mayor Wilson (Wally) Andersen, members of the 12th Council, Management and Staff of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay wish to thank all those brave Men and Women who have served or continue to serve their country today.

The 2019 Remembrance Day Ceremony Parade will commence at Queen of Peace Middle School to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 51at 10:30 AM.
