Municipal Yard Waste Information

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is advising the public that the Municipal Yard Waste area located off Corte Real Road is OPEN for the upcoming summer season.
Residents are reminded that the Yard Waste Facility accepts the below-listed items only and that there is appropriate signage in place indicating best practice and what is and, is not permitted at the Municipal Yard Waste Site:
ACCEPTED:
- Trees, branches
- grass
- leaves
- trimmings
- untreated wood materials
Materials listed below are not acceptable at the Municipal Yard Waste location off Corte Real Road. Residents and Businesses are also reminded that the Municipal Landfill (Dump) is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM:
NOT ACCEPTED: (See Below Photos)
- Painted, stained and pressure-treated wood
- Furniture
- Appliances
- Household Garbage
- Empty Paint Cans
Town Crews have cleaned up the Municipal Yard Waste area over 15 days, removing excess of 100 Dump Truck Loads of unapproved material. Residents and businesses need to understand and appreciate that the practice of illegal dumping is not only a cost to the taxpayers of Happy Valley-Goose Bay but also holds detrimental effects to the environment.
Furthermore, anyone or any business caught in illegal dumping activities will be prosecuted and could face fines of up to $10,000.00.
Anyone who witnesses illegal dumping activities at the Municipal Yard Waste area off Corte Real Road or anywhere within the boundaries of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay are encouraged to report it to Municipal Enforcement at 896-3322 or photos can be emailed to complaints@townhvgb.com.
