Statement from the
13th Council of the
Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay
“Crisis In Ukraine”
Release Date: February 28, 2022
The 13th Council of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay would like to recognize the threat that Ukrainians are facing right now. We will be raising a Ukraine flag to voice our support and show solidarity to all of those who are suffering in these horrifying times. It is expected that 4 million citizens will flee from their homes. As we stand here, unable to even imagine what you may be feeling, we hope you find safety. You are in our thoughts. We are praying for your strength to prevail.
To our fellow Ukraine-Canadians who have fear and uncertainty of what each hour will bring for their loved ones, we are praying for your peace. The inability to be there for your loved ones may have you feeling helpless, please reach out for support in these mentally trying times. We hope that all our citizens show a little extra kindness and support to all who cross their paths as you never know what burdens people are carrying.
While it has taken a few days to acquire the Ukraine flag, it has been weighing on our minds and hearts. We stand united in solidarity with Ukraine. Please know, our community is holding the country of Ukraine and its citizens in our thoughts and prayers.
