Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Takes Further COVID-19 Precautions
The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is advising the public that it is closely monitoring information related to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
For the public’s safety, and in follow up to the precautions previously announced; the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay advises that along with all Town-owned publicly accessible facilities announced; All Town Owned Playground Facilities are also CLOSED to the public with immediate effect and until further notice.
The updated list of CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FACILITIES includes:
- Town Hall
- EJ Broomfield Memorial Arena
- Landfill (Closed to General Public)
- Municipal Depot
- Kinsmen Park
- Husky Park Skate Loop
- Goose Bay Curling Club
- Lawrence O’Brien Arts Centre
- Recycling Activities at CAF Arena on Northside (MOT)
- Lake Melville Dog Park
- All Town Playground including the following:
- Roberts Road Playground
- Ford Street Playground
- Perrault Place Playground
- Steve’s Playground
- Laurier Loop Playground
- Spruce Park Playground
- Mealy Mountain Collegiate Sportplex
ALL ESSENTIAL SERVICES WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE, INCLUDING:
- Water & Sewer Services
- Roads (Snow Clearing)
- Residential Roadside Garbage Pickup
- Landfill (Contractor Access Only) (Closed to General Public)
- Fire & Emergency Services
- Municipal Enforcement (including Animal Control) call 896-3322 or complaints@townhvgb.com
Furthermore, the Town has received a significant amount of complaints from the community relating to Youth not adhering to Social / Physical Distance measures as recommended by the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health. Parents & Guardians are encouraged to monitor activities of our community’s young people, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
These unprecedented measures, though unfortunate, are necessary to be proactive against the potential spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay extends thanks to the public for their understanding at this time.
In consultation with officials at Labrador Grenfell Health and guidance released by the office of the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health, the 12th Council of Happy Valley-Goose and Management will monitor updates relating to the pandemic and update residents regularly.
The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is asking residents to please share this information, in particular to our Seniors that may not have access to Social Media or the Internet in general.

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay strongly recommends that residents and businesses utilize a cautious approach and exercise recommended practices to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.
